Share:

Summer was in full swing (pun intended) last week as the Triple Crown Sparkler Tournament came through the Denver area for the 15th year and like past years, it was a big success. Plus, there’s nothing better than sunshine and softball to make it truly feel like summer in Colorado.

Over 700 teams competed in a variety of different games that were played in the span of a week. The Christopher Complex in Westminster, CO, “one of the finest four-field complexes in the United States”, acted as the main headquarters for the tournament but facilities were used all across the Denver Metro area. Communities in Thornton, Federal Heights, Northglenn, Arvada, Aurora, Littleton, Denver, Brighton, Lakewood, Commerce City, as well as a few Northern Colorado cities rallied together to make this year’s tournament one to remember.

The All-American games, the All-Academic games and the Showcase All-Star games were the highlights of the week. The All-American games had a “MLB All-Star Festival game feel” and included top performers picked by College Coaches. There were over 10,000 fans cheering on the future stars of College softball during these games.

The All-Academic games included players that have a cumulative GPA of 3.8, scored a 28 or higher on the ACT or are in the top 15%  of their class.

The true highlight of the week were the Showcase All-Star games. These games gave players the opportunity to interact with college coaches & to learn about the process of playing at that level. Of course, the coaches gained something from these games too as they got to recruit different players. To do this, they put their position and graduation year into consideration.

Next year’s event is destined to be just as successful as this years. This tournament is a phenomenal way for college level players to have exposure to college coaches and the recruiting process. Spot’s for next year’s tournament are set to fill up fast. Make sure to get signed up before September 30 to hold yours.
