When was the last time you got out and played? Maybe work and other adult obligations have been getting in the way but we have a feeling that if you have children close by, play is a big part of your life. And if it isn’t, it should be! Plato once said “you can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation”. It’s true, the more kids can play, the better they become at thinking about different possibilities. The research & the science behind play is one thing, making it happen is another, and that’s where Brookside Community Play comes in.
Brookside Community Play is “using the power of play to change lives and (their) neighborhood” in Indianapolis, Indiana. We love what they’re doing to engage both kids & their families in healthy play. It is becoming easier & easier to get wrapped up in the negative influences within communities. Instead of families living in that fear, BCP makes it easy to enjoy time together in a positive way.
No matter the season, BCP gets kids and their families to gather in a near by park to play. Basketball, soccer, t-rex tag, kickball, jump roping, hula hooping & other forms of play take over the park 1 day a week. They know that this time helps build character, develop healthy competition & puts their neighborhood to good use.
