Spring officially begins on Saturday! Although, some of us will probably be enjoying fake spring for the next few weeks, with some winter mixed in. But, it is officially spring after this weekend. It’s just a matter of time before the skies across Colorado and other parts of the country will clear and everything will dry out. A lovely warm up will come with the sunshine and in just a couple short weeks, those April showers will invade the forecasts. Are you ready? Or shall we ask, is your canopy ready? What is the difference between water-resistant & water-proof tops?
Thanks to a finish we add to the fabric we use, all of our canopy tops are water-resistant, meaning they can tolerate a light spring rain. This finish allows water to bead up and drizzle off the tent top, leaving what you have on display underneath, dry. If you get more than a light rain it could cause trouble for your canopy top. Sometimes you know when you are about to get a torrential downpour, and sometimes you don’t. These big rains tend to threaten your canopy top with a great deal of water weight. The canopy frame does not appreciate this extra weight and the integrity of it will be compromised. It may hold the water weight, but you will no longer have the canopy you once did.
If you are looking for a water-proof tent, you are looking for one that will allow for those big torrential rains. It will stop any rain from leaking through. You will usually find this type of tent in the camping department at your local retailer. An event tent, like the industry-leading ones we create, are not designed to give you this type of water security.
