Tailgating Tips by KD Kanopy

It may still be August, but that doesn’t mean that football season isn’t right around the corner. Whether you love, hate or are indifferent to the Broncos, there’s one thing we all love: yes, tailgating. Even the most hardened of sports haters will go out to a good tailgate.

We at KD Kanopy love tailgating as much (maybe even more) than the next guy. For you rookie tailgaters, we’ve put together a few tips to make your first event a success… or at least not a total disaster.

  • Start with the tent. Tailgating is hard work. All that drinking and grilling can really take its toll on you throughout the day. That’s why we suggest sheltering your guests (and grill) with a sturdy tent that’s easy to set up. Luckily, we’ve got the ParyShade, Majestic and Advantage that all fit the bill. Pro tip: customize your tent with your team’s colors and logos to earn the title of #1 fan.
  • Plan ahead. This might be common sense (unless you’re a procrastinator), but really – we mean it. You might be surprised by how much you miss out there in the wilderness of a parking lot filled with hundreds of other sports fans. Pack plenty of disposable plates, napkins, silverware and cups. Think ahead about cleanup and leftover by packing some foil, Ziploc bags and Tupperware.
  • Foil is your friend. Do you really plan on cleaning off that grill after the game? Probably not. Cut down on your cleanup by lining your grill with foil. That way, all you have to do is crumple and toss.

There is no science to tailgating, but there is a bit of common sense required. Don’t get in fights with the Raiders fans. Don’t wipe your BBQ covered hands on your shirt (that’s just gross). Don’t lose your tickets. Follow our simple tips and you’ll make it out of your first tailgate alive.
